Moving from an old home to a new home is a gigantic pain that only sadomasochistic individuals would enjoy. From the day you sign the lease the moving process begins, if only mentally, and often times the mental moving procedure is much worse than the actual physical moving.
The mental moving procedure can be the biggest stress of moving. This processes is the process by which you begin to become anxious about the move. During this stage most people feel overwhelmed and overstressed. Usually individuals begin to mental calculate their plans for the move. How can I pack all of my things, what will I be moving, can I fit the sofa into the new place, do I have buy new furniture, do I have the time, all of these thoughts rush through the thoughts of most individuals in this stage. Often time this stage can paralyze people, and overwhelm their ability to deal with the traditional new house stresses and challenges.
Dealing with the stress of this stage can be a challenge in itself, but is doable. There are many distressing techniques that can help level you out during an emotional time like this. The first is exercise, exercise has shown to not only be good for your body, but also for your brain. By engaging in some cardiovascular exercise, you will cause the release of endorphins, the bodies feel good brain chemical. Exercise will also help you to busy your mind, providing you with a peaceful break from moving related thoughts. The next technique to help distress yourself during trying times is mediation. Meditation, practiced by Asian monks for centuries upon centuries, has been show to reduce blood pressure and quiet the mind. Meditation does not need to be a difficult task either, simply taking a few quiet moments to yourself, breathing deeply and clearing your mind can be a great mediation session.
The actual physical moving of stuff tends to actually be the easier part. While this many surprise many, the physical moving stage is mainly time consuming, that is it. It usually is not that emotionally taxing, simply taxing on our muscles. Our brains maintain a low level of stress, only our muscles get a work out usually. Of course however it does depend on the individual, and there personal stress threshold.
