Many people assume that portable storage units are only for moving. You fill them, the moving company takes them away and delivers them to your new home, you unpack them... and thats all. But theyre useful for so much more. A few less traditional uses of portable storage units are:
* Home storage. Rather than wasting hours of your time waiting at the U Haul office to rent a van, loading it up fast so you dont waste rental time, driving to the storage facility, unloading it fast, and racing to get the van back before you go over time and have to pay extra, make the storage facility bring the storage cell to you. Portable storage units have no time limits; you fill them at your own speed. Then with a phone call, you summon movers to whisk the units away. A phone call brings them back, and you can empty them without any hurry.
* A temporary storage shed. Portable storage units may have "portable" in their name, but who says they have to move? If you have a remodeling project and need a shed, rent a storage unit. When the project is done, clean it out and send it back to the company empty. Its less expensive and less permanent than getting a shed and offers your belongings more protection than setting up a tent.
* Mixed use. When you do a major home improvement project, get a couple of portable storage units to use as storage sheds. When youre ready to enjoy your newly improved house, make it even better by filling one of the units with things that were cluttering up your rooms, and send them off and out of your way.
When you rent a portable storage unit, be creative. They may have been developed for one main use, but theres no reason to be hemmed into that use. If you want to use the unit right on your lawn, go ahead. If youd rather use it for storage than for moving, go ahead. Theyre sheds, storage rooms, moving vans...
